Artwork Set Free

I recently read a blurb from an artist on their philosophy, sharing that children's art should be very limitless and freeing, allowing children to experience art as an enjoyable messy process. This was great for me to read, as I often guide Ruthie on her artwork. So for a change of pace, I have given Ruth complete freedom in her art, encouraging her to do whatever she pleases... This often results in colorful, bold and sometimes overwhelming pieces of artwork (and it's often a big task for Mom to clean up later), but this new method has definitely been worthwhile to experience. Last week while painting at her easel, Ruthie decided to paint each of her fingers different colors, then press her hands on her canvas making rainbow handprints. So clever and fun! Here she is making messy fun art on her easel.

Wish you could have been my art teacher! Ruth is blessed to have such wonderful opportunities to create.

I guide Sam way too much, simply because I am afraid he'll make a mess or waste his art supplies. Thanks for posting this - Ruth is lucky to have such a great teacher!

Fabulous! I am taking cues from you next time we get the paints out!
