Happy Easter!
This year Easter was a true celebration! We eagerly awaited the joyous day of Easter, after a long Lenten season and passionate triduum, we awoke on Easter to a day of sunshine and hope. Over the lenten season, Mark attended classes each weekend to become a member of the Catholic Church. This concluded with a special Easter Vigil service on Saturday evening. We are overjoyed to be worshipping as a family at church, and excited to see where the Lord will take us.
On Sunday morning Ruthie jumped for joy to discover a big Easter basket sitting on the kitchen table. She quickly carried cards for everyone into our bedroom and we read all of one another's cards while snuggling together. Ruthie loved the contents of her basket--new games, sticker book and chocolate treats. Around midday, Mark's brothers and parents arrived to share the sunny day with us. The weather reached 70 degrees, the sun was bright and hot, and we spent most of the day in the backyard. Ruthie told me her favorite things were having everyone here, hunting for eggs, and eating treats (oh, to be four again!). As parents we loved watching the kids run and play, pushing the kids on the swing set and to watching our girls interact with their grandparents. The day went off without a hitch, and we feel so blessed to have family close enough to celebrate with in such a casual way.
This is a picture of Ruthie with her cousin, Sammy. The two of them played wonderfully together all day, most of the time they ran around barefoot in the yard. After the day was through the two of them washed each other's feet in the bathtub before saying goodbye!

Thank you for including us in your Easter festivities. We had a wonderful time playing with the children and visiting with our grown-up children. And the food was yummy as well.
It was such a beautiful day in many ways. Thank you for having us, it was wonderful!
What a precious account of a what sounds like a wonderful day! I'm so happy to learn that you are now united in worship in a deeper and more profound way. I celebrate that with you. My favorite part of your account, though, is Sammy and Ruthie washing each others' feet in the tub!
What a special Easter Sunday with your family and extended family! May the joys of this Easter remain with you throughout the coming years. We love you all so much!
