Happy 6th Birthday Ruthie

Ruthie celebrated her 6th birthday last week, and boy was this a hard one for me (Mom)!  Ruthie has grown up so much over the last few years, that we feel her early childhood has slipped away faster than we thought possible.   Although she is just six-years old, she is truly a kid now, fully capable of so many big kid things.  sniff, sniff...  I tell her regularly, "I hope you never grow up"...

This year Ruth's birthday fell on a school day, but we made sure to deliver cookies and strawberries to her class for her to celebrate at the closing of the school day.  Ruth wore a crown, and her teacher led the class in singing and even snapped a few group photos.  Ruth was embarrassed, but she sure loved it.  After school Ruthie ran around with Sam and Sophia (her two bffs at school), then we walked home for a lineup of activities.  Ruthie had swim team practice, then we had dinner with the Kwon family.  Ruthie's friend, Andrew, has the same exact birthday as her (born at the same hospital just hours apart), and these two have celebrated birthdays together since their beginnings.  We had a yummy dinner, delicious vegan chocolate cake and opened presents!  A few days after her actual birthday, we hosted a small evening painting party for Ruthie and her friends, held at our local fitness club led by her preschool teacher.  It was super fun, and Ruth just loved it!  Each child painted a cute macaw, it was fun to see how different all of the creations looked.  Overall, we had a wonderful week, happy birthday to our sweet Ruthie.  We can't believe you are now S-I-X!!!!!!
