Teacher Tuck-In

Sometimes life blesses you with really affirming moments, here's one for us... When signing Ruthie up for Catholic school we second guessed ourselves many times, did we do the right thing? Can we afford this? The public schools here are great! Are we sure?!?! As I've shared before, Ruth absolutely loves school and feels so at home there, but this was a significant time of reassurance that she's in the best hands possible. At the annual school auction, we spent hundreds of dollars on a "teacher experience" (donated by Ruth's teacher to the school) titled "teacher tuck-in". The experience would allow the kindergarten teacher to come to your house and read bedtime stories with your child, say prayers and give them their nightly tuck in. We thought it said a lot about Ruth's teacher to donate such a personal and meaningful experience. We won this auction item via silent bid (we bid the capped price guaranteeing the offer). But later in the night so many parents complained they were interested in it, that Mrs. Alleman donated one more identical experience via live auction. Two parents battled so hard during the live auction for it, that it went for over $2,000 - to both of them! Combined Ruth's teacher sold three experiences totaling over $5,000 (a new school record)! Yikes!!! Sure made us feel like we got a bargain! Anyhow, we finally set the date for this experience and Ruthie LOVED every second of it. Her teacher arrived with cake, stuffed animals for both girls, books to read and loads of genuine love and attention. Ruth enjoyed reading to her, reviewing her sight word flash cards, and of course saying and singing prayers together. It was one if the sweetest things we've ever seen, and truly validated for us that Ruth is right where God intended for her to be. Thank you to Ruthie's teacher for such a memorable evening and for truly exemplifying what loving God and your students can look like! Blessed are we!
