Last Friday Ruthie participated in her school's annual Walkathon, and she had an awesome experience with fundraising and exercising! For starters, thank you to our friends and family who supported Ruthie and donated money for this big event. This fundraiser is such a perfect example of how every penny counts, and that small sums added together can truly create a world of difference!
The day of the event was forecasted as solid rain, but during Ruthie's grade level event, there was hardly a drop of rain. Each grade level wore a color, and Kindergarten students wore the color PURPLE! Mark was able to volunteer for the event punching lap cards, and he enjoyed chatting with the kids and parents. I stopped by to take a few snapshots of the event, but had so much fun that I decided to stay! I walked around with Leah taking photos, enjoying the scene, the rockin' DJ music and the fun community vibe. Overall, Ruthie walked a total of 31 laps (roughly 3 miles) in an hour and a half, and only stopped for a few brief snack and water breaks. She maintained a positive attitude the entire time and enjoyed the company of new friends, her cousin Sam, and winks and hugs from Mom and Dad! I'm so glad we embraced this event, it was absolutely awesome!
