Strep Throat Sadness

Ruthie doing her make-up homework...
We had a rough few days at home this past week, which led to Ruthie missing her first piano recital.  Ruth woke up with a fever and sore throat on Thursday morning, she was sad to miss school for the first time, but was really pale and achey.  By Friday we were booked for the doctor, and our suspicions were confirmed with a rapid strep test.  The doctor prescribed antibiotics ASAP, but the timing of her illness made Ruthie miss her first piano recital!  She was heartbroken.

The night of what would have been her recital, Ruth sat the piano for at least an hour playing her selected recital pieces, little tunes and made up songs.  Ruthie cried a few times with Mom and said that she felt sad to miss the recital, but a touch glad because she was feeling nervous to play in front of so many people.  Our apologies for Leah making noises in the background of this video, with a two-year-old sister, there's no such thing as quiet piano time alone...  Ruth is on the mend now, antibiotics are a marvel against strep throat!
