Baby Update: 36 Weeks

Thirty-Six Week Baby Update! With just days until we've made it "full-term" and weeks until the due date, reality has sunk in... Baby must come out SOON, I'm getting uncomfortable! This reality has left me with sleepless early morning risings and continuous prayers for peace in the meantime and for a quick labor/delivery (please join us in this prayer request). This Saturday we installed baby's car seat, packed our bags for the hospital and enjoyed our last "date night". Here is a picture Mark snapped yesterday before we headed downtown (we had a delicious meal and dessert, and are thankful to our friends for babysitting Miss Ruth). The days are ticking away, which means we're one day closer to meeting our second child!

At 36 weeks, the baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Wow! Looking great; you sure don't look 8 months pregnant!
